Northern Development Authority

The trial of the former Chief Executive, the former Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Operations, the former Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance and Administration of the Northern Development Authority, and the Chief Executive of A&QS Consortium Limited is currently pending before the Criminal Division of the High Court, Tamale.

The four accused individuals face a total of eleven (11) counts of corruption and related offences, including conspiracy to directly or indirectly influence the procurement process to gain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract, directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain such an advantage, corruption by a public officer, and corruption of a public officer.

On 26 April 2024, the High Court dismissed an application by the accused persons on a submission of no case to answer. The court ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused persons on all charges and directed them to open their defence.

The accused individuals commenced their defence in October 2024. Subsequently, the case was heard from 20 to 22 November 2024 for a Case Management Conference and to take the testimony of the accused persons and their witnesses.

Proceedings continued from 16 to 18 December 2024, after which the trial was adjourned to 20 to 22 January 2025 for the continuation of the cross-examination of the second accused.
