The YAC team stressed that corruption is not confined to government institutions but can also occur within student bodies. They warned that ignorance of the law does not exempt individuals from liability and cautioned that unchecked unethical practices can become habitual and difficult to eradicate.
Emphasising the gravity of corruption, the YAC team outlined severe penalties, including prison sentences ranging from 12 to 25 years. They urged students to reject corrupt practices and embrace a culture of integrity, stressing that speaking out against corruption is a civic duty, and assuring them that whistleblowers are entitled to legal protection.
The visit to Accra Technical University is part of the Office of the Special Prosecutor's efforts to engage young people in the fight against corruption through its Youth Against Corruption initiative
