OSP Urges Youth to Champion Integrity in Fight Against Corruption

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), in a sensitisation engagement has urged young people to take a firm stand against corrupt practices and embrace the values of honesty, integrity, and accountability.

As part of its corruption prevention mandate, through its flagship Youth Against Corruption (YAC) initiative, the OSP engaged students at the Government Secretarial School in a sensitisation session on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.
The aim was to deepen the understanding of young people particularly students on issues of corruption and to promote the culture of integrity.

In an interactive session with the students, Officers of the OSP outlined the four-fold mandate of the Office and explained its key role in the fight against corruption in Ghana.
The presentation emphasised the importance of early education and awareness in preventing corruption among the youth.

As part of the session, students were taken through corruption case reviews, scenarios, and video presentations to help contextualise the issues, which sparked interactive discussions.
Students actively participated, sharing their interpretations and insightful perspectives on the cases and scenarios, which reflected their deep understanding of issues of corruption.

The sensitisation engagement further highlighted the damaging effects of corruption and how it deprives the youth of essential infrastructure, quality education, job opportunities and vital resources.
Additionally, it highlighted the critical need to remain law-abiding, regardless of temptations or incentives.
The youth were cautioned against abusing positions entrusted to them and urged to cultivate honesty, integrity, and accountability as they transition into future leaders and professionals.

Students were encouraged to become active agents of change and support the fight against corruption by acting as whistleblowers and reporting corrupt activities.
