OSP Urges Tamale Youth to Stand Against Corruption

27 Oct. 2025

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), through its Youth Against Corruption (YAC) initiative, has urged the youth in Tamale to take a firm stand against corruption, emphasising the need to uphold integrity in advancing environmental sustainability and green growth opportunities.

The call was made to over 200 participants, including students, youth activists, and representatives of civil society organisations, at the Ghanaian Youth Summit 2025 in Tamale, organised by the Centre for Opportunities and Rural Development (CORD) Ghana.

The Summit focused on how corruption undermines green growth and youth development, drawing attention to its everyday manifestations—from the payment of bribes and diversion of social protection funds to nepotism in recruitment—which deprive the youth of opportunities and weaken Ghana’s youth development agenda.

Participants were encouraged to engage in integrity-driven activities, participate actively in local and national governance, and use digital platforms responsibly to hold duty bearers accountable. They were also urged to undertake advocacy and community-based actions that promote transparency and collective responsibility.

While in Tamale, the YAC team paid courtesy calls on the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Ali Adolf John, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Professor Seidu Alhassan. The team also participated in youth-focused radio programmes, where they discussed how corruption erodes opportunities and challenged the youth to take decisive action to confront it.
