Samuel Appiah Darko is the Director, Strategy, Research and Communication Division of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), a position equivalent in rank to Commissioner of Police. He assumed office on 3 May 2022.
Samuel Appiah Darko leads the Strategy, Research and Communication Division of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Ghana, where he is responsible for strengthening institutional strategy, research, and communication systems in support of the Office’s anti-corruption mandate. He has advanced initiatives to enhance institutional coordination, evidence-based decision-making, and public engagement within Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.
He has supported the Office’s engagement with national and international governance mechanisms, including Ghana’s National Ethics and Anti-Corruption Action Plan and the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), contributing to alignment with international standards and strengthening inter-agency coordination on anti-corruption policy and implementation.
Prior to his current role, he served as Senior Associate at Cromwell Gray LLP and worked as an analyst with Africa Risk Consulting, where he provided timely risk intelligence and analytical insights to support investment decision-making and assessment of political and operational risks in African markets.
He previously worked as Ghana Correspondent for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), reporting on governance, politics, elections, and public affairs for international audiences, with a focus on public-interest journalism and policy-relevant reporting.
Earlier, he served as Senior Broadcast Journalist at Multimedia Group Limited, where he covered national political and institutional affairs across radio and television. He became one of the most influential broadcast journalists in Ghana and was recognised as Best Political Reporter by the Ghana Journalists Association in 2010, as well as receiving internal recognition as Most Valuable Player for editorial excellence and newsroom leadership.
He has contributed to institutional development at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), including support for the development of a Master’s programme in Peace, Security and Intelligence, where he served as inaugural coordinator, as well as communications and institutional branding initiatives that strengthened the university’s public visibility.
He holds qualifications in Communication Studies, Law, and Peace and Security, and has undertaken executive education in governance and leadership at the University of Oxford and professional development programmes associated with the BBC Academy.
