Mahama Ayariga II
On 11 August 2019, the MP for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga was charged with five counts of using public office for private benefit, in the purchase of brand new and second-hand Toyota Landcruiser vehicles.
Another person, a car dealer, Kenerick Akwasi Marfo, was also charged with one count of collaboration with a public officer for the public officer's private profit.
The case was pending before the High Court, Financial Division, Accra against the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and another. The Special Prosecutor entered a nolle prosequi on 11 October 2021.
The Special Prosecutor explained to the Court that upon further scrutiny of the available evidence the Republic would be unable to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt on the allegation of abuse of public office for private gain.
