Ningo | 19 Feb. 2024
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) visited Ningo Senior High School as part of Africa Anti-Corruption Day activities.
Celebrated on 11 July, the day marks the adoption of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC) in 2003, which took effect in 2006.
The OSP and GACC aimed to engage students and staff in discussions about the impact of corruption and encourage active participation in preventing corruption.
They explained the OSP's mandate, which includes investigating, prosecuting, and recovering proceeds from corruption, as well as implementing preventive measures through sensitisation programs.
Students and staff learned how to report and document corruption, with discussions highlighting its detrimental effects on education, infrastructure, and employment.
The students showed enthusiasm for the financial reward system, which offers up to 10 percent of recovered proceeds for successful corruption reports.
The event concluded with a call to action, urging the younger generation to be proactive in combating corruption and fostering a transparent and accountable society.
