International Engagements and Knowledge Exchange

The OSP was duly represented by a Staff Officer as a panelist and Presenter at the 5th UNODC Anti-Corruption Academic Symposium that was held in Doha, Qatar, from 13 - 14 December 2025. The global assembly of over 60 experts, policymakers, researchers and practitioners from more than 35 countries sought to examine the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the fight against corruption.

The focal area of the symposium was on the top-down application of AI within the public sector, particularly in areas of procurement oversight, audit systems, financial monitoring, and bottom-up uses of AI by Journalist, Civil society Organization and communities in enhancing transparency and accountability.

 

Additional thematic areas of the symposium included AI-enabled whistleblowing systems, open data ecosystems, ethical governance of AI, youth-led integrity initiatives in detecting corruption and the use of satellite and geospatial data to detect corruption in extractive and environmental sectors.

The Symposium also provided valuable networking and partnership opportunities, including engagement with UNODC officials, international researchers, audit institutions, and civil society actors working on AI-enabled integrity systems. These engagements present opportunities for future collaboration, capacity building, and knowledge exchange relevant to Ghana’s anti-corruption agenda.

Overall, the OSP’s participation enhanced Ghana’s visibility in global anti-corruption discourse, reinforced the Office’s commitment to innovation, prevention, and youth engagement, and generated actionable insights to inform the gradual integration of responsible AI tools into Ghana’s anti-corruption ecosystem.
