Department of Justice & International Narcotics and law Enforcement Affairs of the US Embassy Confers with Special Prosecutor

Officials from the Department of Justice and the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the United States Embassy in Accra have conferred with the Special Prosecutor on issues of capacity building and mutual legal assistance.

In attendance was the Resident Legal Advisor, Bill Houser and Director of INL, Chris Carlisle. Mr. Houser described the SP as the ideal man for the job considering he has both academic (Education, prevention) and practice (prosecution) on his side. He pledged the US government’s support for the office.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng revealed he is running against time to move into a 10-story building offered by the state about two years ago. We are also setting up an intelligence unit, a forensic laboratory, a holding cell and a sick bay in the new building, he noted. The SP added that the Office will require a number of training in areas of intelligence, investigations, prosecution and asset tracing and recovery as it gets ready to recruit.
