As part of the African Anti-Corruption Day celebrations, the Youth Against Corruption (YAC) initiative took its nationwide outreach campaign to Ashaiman Senior High School, delivering a clear message: sustainable success has no shortcuts.

Speaking to a packed auditorium of students, the YAC team highlighted the real-life impact of corruption and encouraged young people to reject dishonest practices and embrace integrity. The session aimed to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and resist corruption in their daily lives, helping to build a future led by ethical and accountable citizens.

This year’s African Anti-Corruption Day theme, “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa,” inspired YAC to take its message directly to students, the next generation of leaders.

During the interactive session, students raised concerns about issues such as exam malpractice, favouritism, missing class funds, and the pressure to remain silent when wrongdoing occurs. YAC facilitators emphasized that integrity begins with everyday choices.

“Corruption steals your future before you even get to build it,” a YAC representative told the students. “Integrity builds it, and speaking up helps protect those who choose to do the right thing.”

Mr. Godwin Dzivor, NACAP Focal Person for the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, challenged students to become integrity champions at home, in school, and within their communities. He also encouraged them to use the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s anonymous reporting channels whenever they need to report wrongdoing safely.

By the end of the programme, students committed to the 3-Point Integrity Challenge: reject one corrupt act, report one wrongdoing, and respect the rules, even when it is difficult.

With this pledge, Ashaiman SHS students are helping to set a new standard of integrity for their generation.
