The Special Prosecutor meets EOCO’s new management

The Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on Monday, 10 March 2025 paid a visit to the new leadership of Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption and economic and organised crimes. The visit provided an opportunity for the Special Prosecutor to formally congratulate the new EOCO leadership and reaffirm the OSP’s commitment to working closely with them to enhance transparency, accountability, and the effective enforcement of anti-corruption laws.

Mr. Agyebeng indicated the importance of avoiding institutional competition to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to tackling corruption and economic crimes. He emphasised that both institutions must work in tandem, leveraging their respective mandates and strengths to enhance operational efficiency. By fostering mutual respect, transparency and cooperation, he noted that the OSP and EOCO could effectively combat corruption-related offences, ultimately strengthening Ghana’s justice and accountability systems.

 

The newly appointed Executive Director of EOCO, Mr. Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah welcomed the Special Prosecutor and expressed appreciation for the visit. He acknowledged the critical role of both institutions in Ghana’s anti-corruption framework and emphasised EOCO’s readiness to collaborate with the OSP to strengthen investigations and intelligence sharing. He further highlighted the importance of both institutions presenting a united front to build public confidence in their work.


Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration through enhanced information sharing, joint investigations, and coordinated enforcement actions to combat corruption effectively. They recognised the need for resource sharing and underscored the importance of maintaining public trust by upholding transparency, accountability, and professionalism in their operations.

The Special Prosecutor was accompanied by the OSP’s Director for investigations, Emmanuel Basintale, while the EOCO leadership team included the Acting Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director, Raymond Archer, Deputy Director in charge of Intelligence and Monitoring, Aba Jacqueline Opoku, and the technical assistant to the management, Ben Ndego.
