Balogu JHS payroll
Six public officers have been convicted for their roles in the fraudulent validation, verification, and reactivation of salaries paid to Yakubu Tahidu, a former teacher of Balogu M/A JHS in Yendi, who abandoned his post in August 2022 after securing employment at MASLOC. Despite his absence, salaries continued to be paid through collusion with the other five accused persons between August 2022 and February 2024, resulting in unearned payments totalling GHS 86,318.95.
This case forms part of a broader OSP-led investigation into payroll irregularities within the Ghana Education Service. Working jointly with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, the OSP identified and blocked GHS 2.85 million in unearned salaries across the Northern Region, saving the Republic over GHS 34.2 million in 2024 alone, with further annual savings expected.
